An Insight on The Upcoming Mercedes GLA and CLA in India

Mercedes Benz is one of the most prestigious luxury car brands in the country. In the second quarter of 2020, two new products of Mercedes would be launched in India. These would include the new generation of Mercedes Benz CLA Class and the GLA-Class.  The following points provide a better insight into these two vehicles:

  • The CLA is famed for being the first-ever front-wheel-drive sedan of the Mercedes-Benz brand, and the first general model of the CLA class rolled out in 2013. The latest generation of the CLA sedan was unveiled at the 2019 CES [Consumer Electronics Show] in Las Vegas. This new-gen Mercedes CLA Class boasts of having brand new features on the inside and design language on the outside. Much like all the latest Mercedes models, even this CLA is equipped with an MBUX infotainment system. The upcoming Mercedes Benz CLA Class would be powered by a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine that can produce 225bhp and 350Nm of torque and is mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission.

  • The Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, on the other hand, is a compact crossover SUV and tends to be powered by a range of petrol and diesel 4-cylinder engines.  The GLA SUVs come in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive 4Matic option. The latest generation of Mercedes GLA coming to India was unveiled quite recently. This latest model is longer and taller in comparison to its outgoing variant and has grown in dimensions as well. This GLA SUV is based on the MFA platform that also underpins the new A-Class and boasts of having a brand new exterior design. The rear lights of this vehicle are in two parts, with the reflectors being positioned separately in the bumper. Coming to its inside, the Mercedes GLA  now features a fully digital instrument console, new touchpad, and coloured HUD, as well as fighter-jet style AC vents. This SUV is also equipped with radars and sensors that would help in detecting pedestrian crossing and subsequently caution the driver. The upcoming GLA SUV additionally powered by a 1.3-liter turbo-petrol engine that provides 161bhp.
